1938 Austin Ten Cambridge

Standing on the events field at Beamish Museum is this charming little 1938 Austin Ten Cambridge saloon, registered EXX 137.

The Austin 10 was produced between 1932 and 1947 and was Austin’s mid-sized car, slotting in neatly between the iconic baby Seven and the much larger Twelve. The "Cambridge" marque continued to be used by the Austin Motor Company for many years after the demise of this particular model.

In the background there is a collection of 1940's American military vehicles, including a 1943 Ford jeep, currently registered in the UK as 294 UYF.

Know what you mean CF. Trouble is most of our driving pleasure comes with the improvements that have sneaked in over time. I suspect we would find a ride in this old lady hard work. I' with you on all the electronic mysteries.

Thanks for the puzzle ferretneck, what an elegant car. Wouldn't it be great to have one that looked as good but had modern mechanicals. Not too modern though, I don't want electronic gizmos that you can't repair without connecting it to a computer.
