foxymoron

You're full of it, punkie LOL x 10

Shian2

Spot on, Susy, :)))))))

pumpkinhead

A dunny is a crapper, an outhouse. I know that without consulting my homemade Crazy Aussie Dictionary!!! :)))

Shian2

Thanks, Chrissie, gotta have a win some times. :)))

foxymoron

Nothing too bad, punkie - simply blowing up the engine/motor in car/auto :-)

Can refer to Croc Dundee's mate Donk - he's built like a brick dunny (out comes the slang book!)

Shirley, I love pumpkin soup too. I'll help pick the pieces :-)
You are on the right donk track, mate!

pumpkinhead

Never blew my donk or came across one. I'm askeered to ask!!!!

Shian2

LOL, Pumpkin prices are high here in Oz too, Suzy, and I love pumpkin soup.
Oh No chunkin' them, I'd have to go pick up the pieces for my pumpkin soup LOL.

I agree, Chrissie, good tucker!

Hmm, blowing your donk? got me there Chrissie, the only donk I've heard of is something to do with car or boat engines. LOL. please explain.

foxymoron

LOL - you're a good study, mate.

Apropos of nothing, did you ever come across blowing your donk? Just askin'... :-)

pumpkinhead

That's just the word I was looking for, cobber!

foxymoron

LOL - save the pumpkins for tucker!

pumpkinhead

Punkin chunkin' starts in October, Shirley. With the price of pumpkins this year (and mine being eaten by critters), I wouldn't be chunkin' them!

foxymoron

Hey you two, it was good to go back and read.
Shirley, the passing of time doesn't necessarily make it easier to understand LOL.
And what better way to start your day, punkie :-)
@Shian2 @pumpkinhead

PS when is punkin' chunkin' set to start? Always good for a laugh!

pumpkinhead

Thank you for starting my morning out, not with coffee, but with my eyes a watering, Chrissie.
Good memories, great laughs. You're the best!!!

Shian2

Thanks, Chrissie, for bringing forth the laughter from years gone by, it was hilarious to read, and I'm not sure I understood it back then any more than I do now.
We did have some wonderful times back then, a lot of which is lost now. but so good to remember :)))))))))

foxymoron

We'll let the poke remain where we left it. It's safer that way :-)

Yes, we felt that way too, Kirsten.

RandomWorship

OMG. It was SO funny to look back on that nutty convo! I think I have a handle on the whole cattywampus thing. But the poke? Not so much. Not that that's an invite to explain it! I don't think my sides could take it!! (ᵔᴗᵔ)

On a sadder note, reading back on that puzzle reminded me of the losses of folks on Jigidi. Snooker and Jim who decided to stop coming to Jigidi. And Jacki2, who passed away a few years later..... (❛︵❛)

foxymoron

Go easy on the frothies, Suzy or you blokes might end up with some strange spag bog sauce flavour! Well done on your scouring of your Oz dictionaries, mate :-) And extra well done on all the hard yakka you put into making the sauce. And a well done to Jim for BBQing under a bumbershoot :-))

Shirley, top marks for explaining doing your block! Like you, I have no clue what a bushel of anything looks like whether it's tomatoes or feathers :-) I only know what a quart looks like as milk is sold in quarts here. It's a bit shy of a litre. Then you have to take into account that the US pint is different to the Imperial pint we used to use.

I'd agree that none of us is likely to be doing our blocks - unless some critters get into Suzy's sauce stash :-)

Laughing at your comments reminded me of the cattywampus discussion (or more likely dissection!) back in 2015. We just read through the comments again and laughed some more. You two were conspirators on the laugh fest along with Kirsten and other wits. Here's the link if you want to check how funny it was (is!)

Shian2

Thank you, Suzy, I thought 1/2 a bushel would be lots of tomatoes, I have a list of weights and measurement written in one of my recipe books so it's not so bad to change things when needed. I'm sure you will find lots of ideas to use your tomato sauce in, a very handy ingredient to have.

pumpkinhead

A half a bushel is a whole LOT OF TOMATOES, Shirley!!!! 5 hours of prepping them. (I am slow). We have enough sauce to get us through the winter if we have pasta once a week. Does that help with amounts???? :)))))
Having to change all of the old recipes must have been a challenge for you, but how nice you have your Mum's recipes that have been handed down!

Shian2

Wow, that is a lot of work, Suzy, I'll give you a day off now :)) your pantry must be filled with sauce and other wonderful delights.

Suzy, a long time ago I knew what bushels and quarts were, now I haven't a clue.

When we went metric it changed a lot of things like old recipes that Mum handed down to me, I've had to change all the measurements.

There are a lot of things that are different between our Countries, we will work it out one way or another.
Have a very restful night, Suzy ♥♥

pumpkinhead

Two days of tomatoes has taken a toll on me, Shirley. As tomatoes ripened over the summer, I prepped and froze them for sauce making. Yesterday I bought 1/2 bushel of plum tomatoes and cleaned them all. Blanch, peel, put through the food mill to remove seeds. It was a long day. Today I simmered it all down for 6 hours and added onions, peppers, basil, garlic, oregano and other things of magic. Ended up with 14 1/2 quarts. Summer in a jar!!!

It is POURING right now. I mean POURING!!! Wish we could share it with you-it's been a very wet summer here. Have a good afternoon, my friend!! ♥♥

Shian2

Our language seems perfectly normal to me, Suzy, LOL.
Sounds like you have been very productive, were they your home grown tomatoes Suzy? RAIN! haven't seen any of that stuff for ever so long, I'll take as much as you like off your hands, anytime.
I don't think it's in our nature to do our block, LOL.😊😊

pumpkinhead

Have been on my lappy (while busy making homemade spaghetti sauce) and not doing much solving. After 2 days of tomatoes, I am buggered and had a frothy before dinner. At the moment (although we are not camping), the skies are full of lightening and RAIN! Jim had to use the brolly to get to the grill when he was cooking dinner on the barbie.
With that, I am bidding your cobbers a fine evening!! None of us could be accused of doing a block!!!
♥♥♥

(Your language is exhausting!) :)))))

@foxymoron @Shian2

Shian2

Okay you pair, I've never known either of you to be lost for words 😊
Seeing I've been nominated to explain I'd better do just that.

do (one's) block
To become extremely and uncontrollably angry; to lose one's temper. Primarily heard in Australia.
Her words just infuriated me so much that I did my block in the middle of the restaurant.

I don't really believe for one moment this is true of either of you or myself for that matter.😊😊 @pumpkinhead @foxymoron

foxymoron

Patience is a wotsisname... :-)

pumpkinhead

THAT GOOD???? I can't find it in any of the Aussie dictionaries!!! Patiently waiting.......

foxymoron

We're waiting on Shirley. My lips are sealed :-)))

pumpkinhead

Of course she is!!! And the answer is........... ????????

foxymoron

You realise our Suzy is probably going to ask about doing your block LOL.
It's all yours to answer! You can handle being dropped in it, mate :-))

Shian2

Thanks, Chrissie, glad you liked what I ended up doing with the blocks :)) sometimes I can easily do my block trying to come up with ideas for puzzles. :)))

foxymoron

Yowza wowza, this is clever! Love the weave, Shirley. Also the blocks and, speaking of which, we can rely on our Suzy to "do her block" (it's an Aussie thing) in the best possible way :-) Thanks, mate ♥ ♥
@pumpkinhead

Shian2

Thank you, Pat, your very welcome.♥

pkin38

Wonderful puzzle .. Thanks Shirley for the fun

Shian2

Hi Patti, Thank you for your lovely comment. ♥

Shian2

LOL, Suzy, you are not the only one who needs help in knowing what to do with these blocks, It took me quite a while to figure out what I could do LOL, good idea to sleep on it zzzzzz Thanks mate ♥

PLG1958

Great puzzle, as always. :) Thanks Shirley!

pumpkinhead

Blocks. Okay. There's something I can do with this. Blocks. Hmmmm.
Can't be creative!!! ARGH!!!!!
My mind is blocked!!!
Call me a blockhead. Or a blockedhead. Send me around the block.
It's time for bed. LOL
Good blocks, Shirley!!! ♥

Shian2

Many Thanks, Janet, I'm trying to find something a little different. ♥

jan42ful

Gorgeous colours and patterns thanks Shirley and I like the overlay too. Hugs my friend. ♥

Shian2

Thank you, Ardy, good choices, I also liked those two.

ringleader

Lovely color blocks, Shirley. I like the patterns especially on the aqua (middle row) and the green (top row). Thanks.
