Old Family Ring

Dear Robin, I haven't seen you in a long time and I miss you very much. During very busy days, I didn't have time to write to you, and now I see how hard times you had and howbig worry you have. I understand you very well, I have been through this twice in the last year, first with my dear mom and then with her sister, my aunt. It was hard to lose both in such a short time. I am thinking of you and I hope that, despite the difficult situation, you will return to us soon. I wish you a lot of strength, be careful of yourself. Deanna ♥:))

Bev, I'm so sorry about your dad, and your mom's bad health, too. It is so much worse that you are doing everything alone. My sister had worked with dad and the funeral home in advance, learning from the experience when mom died, and had most of the planning done. I can't imagine what you are going through now. I will be praying for you to find strength and for your mom's health to improve. Take care.

My Mother was 94 on Friday 7/31. She lives in Ohio. I talked to her for a long time.

I'm so sorry to hear that @redina1. I know how you feel. I'm glad you were there with him. He lived a long life at 99 years old. I hope it was a peaceful ending for him.

My father passed away on July 20th (my sister's birthday--she's deceased). He had been in a lot of pain and was basically being made comfortable in the hospital before he passed. I was there with him, so at least there was that.

My mom is still at the nursing home as I am planning the funeral. It is very taxing for me, but I'm the only one who can do it. Mom's not doing too well today--I just talked to the nurse.... We usually face time on Monday mornings, but she was too tired to do it today. They said her temperature is up, so they are trying to get it down now. I'm praying that all will go well with her because I haven't even buried my father yet. Take good care.

Things will get done in due time redina1, take time for yourself so that you are not overburdened.

It's been a busy time. Dad's funeral was today and now we have a house and everything in it to deal with. Thanks FW.

@Butterladyflybug7. I am at my parents house now. My dad's funeral is today. He passed away Tuesday at 99 years old. I had the privilege of holding his hand as he went home. Just like with mom, things came together perfectly so I could be here for him at the right time. Hope you and your family are well.

It's very thin metal, a jeweler guessed 14 karet gold. It has two different designs alternating on nine flat surfaces, but there's no way to tell what they were, they are so worn. My birthday was on the 10th, and the day was very nice. Thanks, natali.

It probably is the only one in existance, with a history we will never know. I just imagine a handsome young man giving it to my beautiful G-G-G Grandmother and how much she must have cherished it. Thanks for digging, you guys. :))

No markings on the inside, and as I said, the designs on the outside are too worn to identify. I googled "vintage gold ring, 9 sided with markings" and saw nothing like it. I'll keep playing. Thanks.

I took it to a jewelry store and the lady eyeballed it and said it was old, there's no way to know what the designs were, and it is probably 14 (or so) caret gold, but of course she couldn't be sure. It's doesn't tarnish, and it's wide, but very thin. That's all we know about it. I would love to know more, but there's no way to find out.

It's hard to figure out because of the flat parts. I've never seen anything like it, and would love to see a picture of it when it was brand new.

No. For some reason she brought it and a couple of other rings out. She had two that were made from diamonds that were taken out of one ring, and this one. I tried it on and it fit perfectly and I told her how much I liked it. That's when she told me some of it's history and that I could have it when she was gone. We had no idea that would happen so soon. I think there's a five generation picture with G-G-G Laudenslager that I hope to find when I go back to Arkansas.

I found the puzzle where you mentioned the ring. I left you a message on your other puzzle.

What angle am I looking at? I have trouble with dark colors, it's hard from me to get oriented and distinguish objects. I'm sorry, I can see a light colored shape with a dark square facing me. Is the square the top of the ring or the side?

And you'd never seen it prior to her giving it to you?

Very unusual ring, for sure. Wow....that would make her being born around 1870 or before...amazing....I know you treasure it....just think.....all of your maternal grandmothers as well as your mother could have worn it. Amazing....and thanks so much for sharing.
