Why are you reporting this puzzle?

Several days work on an autumn colored crochet blanket, and it's almost long enough!

There's no pattern, for anyone who is wondering how to make it. I started with a single crochet foundation chain, and continued until the chain was wider than my shoulders by about 1 foot. Every row after that is made up of the "Double Double" crochet stitch.

The Double Double is a very tall stitch. It's 5 chains high - combining two double crochet stitches and one single crochet, between them, all at once. So, as you can see in the photo, the rows are very wide, and progress is very fast! September 2021, Albany NY.

:)

Hi back,
That is good that the blanket is almost done. A border will look good. Yes on the yarn as well.

Not good that you are unemployed but this will keep you busy.

Hi, @Ianto. Yes, it's basically done. It's a little narrow for my taste, so I'm working on a border I'll stitch on later. It only took about 4 days to make the main blanket, but I'm also unemployed, and was able to work on it four or five hours a day. This is a nice way to use up leftover yarn. :)

is it finished yet?

ssembler

:) I have those things right now!!

Heicel

@ssembler Don't be! If you have time and a little patience and are willing to try and train, then it's really fun and the outcome very rewarding! But you've GOT to have time. Under pressure this is hell - in a comfortable chair with a mug of coffee beside you and a good 'How to' it's heaven ;-)!!

You're welcome! I wanted to get good at lacy things, but I am intimidated!

Heicel

Thanks for reminding me of the knook - I think we call it Tunesian needle - which I wanted to try for ages. I just never got around to a store where I can buy it, so...

I have also done several crocet blankets but also other things like scarfs or even curtains, which are made with very thin yarn, crocheting lace like the Irish did since the medieval times.

But latrly Ibhsve no timr to do ghat - I'm puzzling all my free tikd away 😁
Nice to see you again, too!!

It's very comfy! Thick and warm, but still floppy. I'm not very good at knitting, either. The "waistcoat" crochet stitch looks a lot like a knit stitch. And you can make both knit and purl stitches with a tool called a "knook" - which is a crochet hook with a cord attached at the back end, to slide your work onto, instead of using one knitting needle to hold the work, and one to knit. And the stitches are crochet, but when you're done, I think it looks just like knit and purl. Nice to see you, Heicel!

This looks very comfy - and it's a crochet blanket in wonderful warm colors! I like to crochet myself much more than knitting. Which may have to do with the fact that I can't knit very well... 😉
