AERIAL OF NEUSCHANSTEIN CASTLE, GERMANY
Why are you reporting this puzzle?
NEUSCHWANSTEIN Castle – one of the most visited castles in Europe - is a nineteenth-century palace on a rugged hill in Bavaria, Germany. It was commissioned by King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat so he could withdraw from public life, as well as to act as homage to his favourite composer Richard Wagner. Ludwig paid for the palace out of his personal fortune and through extensive borrowing. The castle was intended as a home for the king until he died in 1886, although he was there only part time. Since then, more than 61 million people have visited the castle and it has appeared prominently in several movies such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Great Escape. It also served as the inspiration for Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle.
