This bird is a visitor from farther west, and isn't normally seen in New Jersey. He is spending his summer vacation here, on a farm that grows organic vegetables. His name comes from his song -- Tick Tick Sizzzzzz!

Yes, Blue Jays live in southern Canada, all around the Great Lakes and west to the prairies. Their numbers vary; I see more of them in years when there are lots of acorns, which they love. You might attract Blue Jays to your home if you put out some peanuts, in the shell.
But of course Canada has the wonderful Canada (Grey) Jay as well, which barely shows up south of the border!

are they "canadian" birds? our major league baseball team is the toronto blue jays. they are gorgeous (the birds i mean, lol) but i have never seen one in person (in bird?) myself.

Toto, I've seen many blue jays but I don't have a picture of one. I'll have to work on that!
