Just had to check a TX map :-) We came south from San Antone on 281 to McAllen so missed Corpus Christi entirely. We had to have seen the lighthouse on the way to South Padre but my memory is hazy - I'll have to check the photo albums - there was so much to see! I recall a very long bridge from Port Isabel to the island. I remember being stunned by the size of Laguna Madre.
Okay yes, you went down the coast from Corpus Christi. Do you remember the lighthouse in Port Isabel? :) In Corpus they'd have the release of the turtles. I never went out there to watch...it was early in the mornings when they'd do that.
I am so sorry that you're not well enough to move again, mi amiga. Your consolation is always having the place in your heart. That will not go away. It's part of you! Brownsville rings a bell but not the other two. We were visiting friends in Mission and they took us to South Padre. What an amazing turtle rescue centre they have there. We spent more time there than any other spot.. even have a T-shirt to prove it :-)
I'm not well enough to move again.......But Corpus Christi will always be in my heart. Do any towns down that way ring a bell? Brownsville? Port Isabel? Port Aransas?
Who knows but you might return one day? To quote Fats Waller, "One never knows, do one?" I haven't seen Corpus Christi - I think the nearest I was to it was South Padre Island? Not too familiar with TX geography - there's a lot of it! As for NM I had that conception too. I think parts of the state have a desert climate but where I visited was to the south and it didn't look desert-like to me with all the rain. I thought similar about AZ. My first visit was in a January and there was snow in the Grand Canyon! I'd expected dry and dusty; not cold and fluffy white :-)
Not too hot as a rule. Perhaps more so in LA but we're nearer to the southern border and not too far inland from the coast so it's quite moderate. Inland to the east from here it's way hotter in summer and colder in winter. We are on a canyon rim so Nature's air conditioning (the sea breeze) is usually enough to keep it pleasant. I know southern TX can be very hot... visited there a few years ago but not in the summer (I'm not that crazy LOL) and it was just right. Also spent some monsoon time in NM. Won't be repeating a visit at that time of the year :-)
Yes, those last days of Summer are with us. It has been a pleasant one - not too hot here. I suspect TX was hotter! Gracias, mi amiga for this cheerful puzzle :-)
