Catty Pusses
Why are you reporting this puzzle?
I feel that I should grovel and meekly apologise for eight months of silence but I'm not. Life is what it is and. as we have all learned over the rest of 2020. we have to live with it. I'm going to take my cue from the puzzle I have made for today, after I had already posted on my Woodowly page. It is International Cat Day and if it's one of the things cats have down to a fine art, much like Her Majesty the Queen of England, is "Never complain, Never explain!" Of course, I could also quote Robert Heinlein “Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.” who seems to have the right idea.
There are some really good quotes about cats. I like this one: "...owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods.”
― Christopher Hitchens, The Portable Atheist: Essential Readings for the Nonbeliever
Then, of course there is the cat's inimitable talent for being awkward. “Cats can work out mathematically the exact place to sit that will cause most inconvenience.”
― Pam Brown
Cats are invariably superior, or at least look that way. “Such nonsense!" declared Dr Greysteel. "Whoever heard of cats doing anything useful!"
"Except for staring at one in a supercilious manner," said Strange. "That has a sort of moral usefulness, I suppose, in making one feel uncomfortable and encouraging sober reflection upon one's imperfections.”
― Susanna Clarke, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
