Poor birdies. Sorry Eva. Hugs my friend♥♥

Kossamu

Ardy, I checked AZ wildlife/birds and it didn’t have anything to say about why the house Finches and Sparrows are found dead…one each day and it seems like they just drop dead..found one in the boys hat in the front fountain this am..having a drink and died..
I do appreciate all the input❣️ It happened two years ago too and it’s not the heat as it’s cooled off nicely😺
Thanks and Hugs dear friend❣️🌸❣️

Val, about four years ago Tamron came out with a new camera lens which I immediately bought. It zooms from a normal camera lens to 400 mm which allows close up from a distance. I love it even though it's a bit heavy. Then with computer technology one can edit one's own pictures and crop close to the image to bring it even closer. Wish digital technology had been invented at least 60 years ago. LOL The savings from not paying for developing film would have paid for the equipment. Now that my mobility is limited I even more thankful for it.

Would love to hear your group. My mother played the mandolin. I have her instrument and played around with it when I was younger. I had it restrung. Apparently it was too much tension for the wood and it cracked. I still have it. I think it's in the cedar chest. Hugs dear friend♥♥

Wow that camera of yours must give you great joy Ardy another wonderful close up. I went and scrubbed the sugar water bottle and containers today, though Jim washes every time he fills them up. We are off to our club tonight and performing in the Ukulele group 7 of us Jack and I just do singing the other 5, 3 girls and two guys (incl Jim) play and sing. We are doing Glory of Love, Top of the World and a compilation of Somewhere Over the Rainbow and A wonderful World which has 20 different chords in it. Hugs dear friend ♥♥♥

Have fun. Stay safe. Huggles.

Right Ardy.... now I understand.
We are off again in the van tomorrow so will be out of reach for a few days
Best wishes AB

ringleader2

Thanks, AB. The problem is not where to place a feeder or more but how to get to them to clean and fill them. Maybe 50 years ago we had a feeder that attached to the window ledge. It was flat with indented areas for seeds. It also had a clear plastic cover that rolled toward the window so the birds could eat and rolled away from the window for filling from inside the house. The company quit making them. Probably because the cover would split after a few seasons of changeable temperatures.

With my limited mobility now I would need something like that. Huggles.

ringleader2

You're welcome, Shirley. Such different personalities. I do enjoy them.

ringleader2

You're welcome, Patsy. I'm glad you found them. Having a 400 mm lens helps get up close and personal. :-) They are all fun to watch and all of them are special.

Abjab

I found all the info. about the poorly birds interesting. A few years ago we had bad cases of bird flu which shut down all the wild life centres to stop its spread.

It's a lovely picture of your cheeky chappie.

In England we have feeders that look a little like an old fashioned coat stand. With several feeders hanging from them. I wonder if maybe some one could place one of these so you could see the birds more easily from your window.
Just a thought

He is a little cutie, they all have their own quirky little ways and are so much fun to watch, Thanks, Ardy.

Thanks, Ardy, for the links and leads to your cardinal photos. I found both of the male photos on page 2. Both the male and the female are beautiful and bring back childhood memories. But I don't think I ever got quite as close up and personal as you did with your camera.
Today I got to watch sparrows, 2 robins, and a magpie on our front lawn and in our crabapple tree. But none as entertaining as your sparrow today. ~Patsy

ringleader

That sounds good, Jacki. Thank you and Ed. Now I need to get some bleach. ♥Hugs♥

ringleader

Thanks, Barb. Yes, the birds should do well with wild seeds etc. for the next couple of months at least. Hope your day is going well. It's been sunny and in the 70's here today. Hugs ♥

ringleader

You're welcome, Jillian and thanks.

ringleader

Thanks, Suzy, for all the information and links. Guess I should clean out my little feeder and leave it empty. I don't have any bleach. Will vinegar work? My common sparrows are not considered songbirds. Don't know about cardinals. ♥♥♥

bluebird42

Ardy, Ed found in a different paper a more complete explanation. We dont have to close the restaurants, what we have to do is wash the bird feeders and water baths frequently with 90% water and 10% bleach. There's nothing wrong with the bird seed.

SunnyBarb25

Such a nice photo, Ardy. Thanks for a lovely solve. It is so sad that the good deed of helping the birds had to turn into a nightmare. The one positive thing is that we have summer now and the birds can feed themselves on wild seeds. Hugs ☺♥

JillianB

I agree Ardy they have such perky/cheeky postures. Thanks

pumpkinhead

Such inquisitive faces! Thank you, Ardy! ♥♥

We have been tracking the spread of the bird virus as it's moved east and north. Our feeding station is down, and feeders have been cleaned with a solution of bleach and put away. The bird bath is closed for the season. The peanut cage is still hanging and the woodpeckers visit it, but we are very careful to keep things on the ground cleaned up. The oriole and humming feeders are still up, but are cleaned every 2-3 days.

Thank you, beyondwords. I went back through "My Puzzles" and found this shot of the female cardinal. She is quite shy and stays nicely hidden and/or moves too fast for the camera https://www.jigidi.com/created.php?id=6180so2m

If you go to my profile page and check on "My puzzles" and scroll down to page 2 you'll find the male. There is another picture on page 3.

Since I can't bring you here or send them there this is the best I can do. LOL

ringleader2

Thanks, Faye. I'll be praying for a safe trip home. Glad you hummers didn't go hungry all this time. ☺ Not that I ever thought you didn't make prevision for them. ♥♥♥

beyondwords

Great photo of a perky bird.
I, too, watch sparrows, mainly because there's not much else to watch here except magpies and the occasional robin. Others in the sky but they don't land nearby. I'd love to see your cardinals.

gemstone

A great shot, Ardy...so clear! Bookmarked for later.

We'll be heading home tomorrow...it's supposed to be cooler until Wednesday so that will be great. A good neighbour has been topping up our hummingbird feeder so "The Boys" have been kept topped up, too. ❤️💕❤️

ringleader2

Thanks, Eva. Jacki (bluebird42) mentioned recently on one of her puzzles that (I hope I'm remembering this right) the Massachusetts Audubon Society is suggesting they stop feeding birds as some disease seems to be coming up from the south. I went to find what she said. Here it is: "It looks like we're going to have to close the restaurant. The Mass. Audubon Society has just sent out a warning that some sort of bird virus is creeping up this way from the south. They believe it's coming from the commercial bird seed and are asking us to stop feeding." Maybe that's what is happening with your birds. Hope things get better for your feathered friends. Hugs my friend♥♥

ringleader2

You're welcome, Jacki. ♥Hugs♥

Kossamu

Great shot of your little entertainer❣️ I so agree with you about their personalities and being fun to watch😊 I just wish you had a more comfortable place to sit and enjoy your birds💕💕
It’s been a sad year for my visitors because every day I find a deceased bird in the yard or in the fountains. This happened 2 years ago too and I’m very curious why this is happening! They are pretty fragile and do fight a lot but still??

Thanks Ardy and Hugs my friend❣️🌸❣️

bluebird42

Great shot, Ardy. Thanks and hugs

Thank you, Ardy. It has been a wonderful 33 years!

ringleader

Thanks, Sandi.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and Larry. Big ((((HUGS)))) for both. ♥♥

SandiT

Sweet little bird.

ringleader

Thanks, alias2v. I agree.

ringleader

Thanks, Pat. Even these are hard to watch as I have to sit on the arm of the sofa and look through the storm door. ☺

ringleader

You're welcome, Pam. I would enjoy watching other birds too but these are what I have along with a pair of cardinals. ☺

Cute

pkin38
