I do too Ellen!

PutterDutt

I love a brilliant bass line!

You should still play. Many musical journeys ahead!

My short musical history with a bass - Formed and was lead singer in a 4 instrument band, bass player died; picked up a bass from a pawn shop, began practicing at home to records/8-tracs. After about 20 gigs, felt I could do more with lessons, hired the area's best teacher, after 4 lessons he said you don't need more lessons, you just need to let yourself go, after 4 more years of playing and travel, said "been there done that" and handed my bass off to musician friend. Loved so much the 'feel' of that bass!

But one of my friends/students takes bass lessons from me!! So I can teach him how to badly play bass!

PutterDutt

Intresting that he removed the frets. Clever.

I can tell!! So am I! I badly wanted to play bass, so now I play bass badly!!

PutterDutt

Thank you Joe and uncabeeil.

He was a brilliant musician. Played that Fender in the picture for most of his life. He didn't like the way it sounded with frets so he just removed them. It helped to give him a sound so unique that it's recognizable immediately. His early work with pat Metheny helped to form the basic sound of Metheny's first half dozen or so albums. only wish I could play half as well as he did.
He also suffered from mental illness, which played a part in the beating which resulted in his death.
Can you tell I'm a fan?
