This is carved wood from the pet crematorium. Angel was Sandy's mother and one of my all-time favorite Collies. Sandy's box will look a lot like this. Angel and Sandy were equally smart, but with dramatically different personalities. Angel was always a perfect angel. Everyone loved her and she loved everyone. Sandy was a control freak who had to be in charge of everything and always get in the last word. NOTHING was allowed to be done without her supervision.

Beautifully carved box. It doesn't get easier but you have her with you.
Re Katy, At least three of my cats have had the same thing. The vet has treated them in the same way and all except one had a complete recovery. That one had a little wrinkle that didn't allow the ear to completely lie flat again, but she didn't seem to notice, so it was OK. Glad to hear that Katy is fine as well.

PutterDutt

Super news, Heidi!

Surreal_Heidi

The ear leather is very puffy, but he didn't feel a haematoma in it. The swelling is at the base of her left ear. He says once the infection goes down, she should look good as new.

PutterDutt

So the Vet thinks she's got an ear infection rather than a hemorrhage between the leathers? GOOD news!!!

Surreal_Heidi

I just temporarily switched to Katy's puppy picture.

Surreal_Heidi

Katy's just fine. Mike the Vet decided it didn't need to be lanced, and could be treated with topical meds. Katy enjoyed the ear massage and the lack of any needles. And once she got back home, she got 5 slices of salami and a slice of smoked turkey as a reward for good behavior. She LOVED that.

PutterDutt

Blue had both ears do that, Heidi. Several times. He finally quit, but the ear leathers were crumpled by that time. I felt so awful for him. It must have hurt. I hope Katy has a much better go of it.

Surreal_Heidi

Tomorrow morning Katy is going into the Vet Clinic. Katy is Sandy's litter sister. She has developed a massive haematoma on one ear. The haematoma has to be at least 4 days old for the Vet to lance and drain it, or the blood won't clot properly. Tomorrow is day 4.

PutterDutt

Yeah. Same here.....

I remember getting Dusty's cremains.... I held them in my hands, and was devastated all over again.....

Jumble

I can imagine your pain, but later in the future you will have some wonderful memories of the time you spent together.

PutterDutt

I grieve with you, Heidi.

Surreal_Heidi

Sandy's cremains arrived yesterday. The box is a lot less ornate, but holding it still brought buckets of tears.

It is a lovely piece of carving... :))

Very pretty box. I have one the same color but a different design for my Pekinese (Chang Dow).

It is hard to say goodbye to such a special companion. My thoughts are with you at this time of loss. May fond memories of Sandy warm your heart always. Wishing you comfort and peace during this difficult time......

redina1

That's a beautiful box. TFS
