@schutkleur Thank you for the information.....I'm pretty much not going to touch them if I ever see them. In my "kids" memory Queen Anne's Lace grew to be around 2 feet tall...don't know if I've remembered from the adult perspective.
Thanks Anne. Hogweed is not the same as Queen Anne's Lace though. Queen Anne's Lace we call 'wild carrot' and is much smaller. This common hogweed can grow up to about two yards, which is nothing compared to the Giant hogweed, which can grow up to at least four yards high. Both are dangerous though. The hairs on their stems can cause itching, the sap in the stem is even worse and can cause severe burns. Never touch hogweed!!! In the link you can see more common hogweed :
Thanks Ginni!! Yes, it's a lovely butterfly, and very common at the moment. About 80% of the butterflies I'm seeing these days is red admiral. Looks like you had your skates on again. I'm guessing you were #1 for a while, untill liertje came along?? :))))
