@virginia1954: Yes. Portage glacier used to come right up to the shoreline in the foreground. I remember that from when I was a kid. But over the decades, the glacier has receded a long way, to where you now have to take a tour boat around the point to actually see it. The lake usually freezes in winter, and icebergs calve off during the warmer months. Portage lake feeds Portage Creek, which travels a short distance before emptying into Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet. It's a popular rafting place where you can see lots of wildlife and hanging glaciers.
