amazing

Racoonstar, it figures that it will get there after the snow melts on it's own.
Good idea to still get the salt and keep it for next time.

Teagardener

I’m laughing Raccoon :)) Oh welllll, if you can store your salt supply in a dry place, you’ll be ready for anything this November ! Glad you’re alright and back home. And thanks for working my new puzzle :)

racoonstar

So on February 19 I ordered some ice melt from the local Lowe's home improvement store. The original order said it would be available for pickup on Tuesday, February 23.
I still haven't received an email saying it was ready for pickup, so I just checked the order online.
The status is now "on the way to store", which means I still can't pick it up.
It's been in the 50s and 60s here, and the forecast shows it will stay that way for at least the next 10 days.
So when it gets here I'll stick them in the corner of the garage with the rest of the pool salt, and wait for the next snow storm. :)
And thanks for checking on me, I'm doing fine now that I'm back home. :D

Teagardener

Good morning @raccoonstar ! I noticed your name on a LB and thought I’d check on you. What a difference a week makes in the weather, wow, temperature here was 73 yesterday :) I’m hoping snow won’t come back till around Christmas, for your area too! Have a great day :)

Good on the mail.
I never heard of pool salt.
The weather is going nuts.

Teagardener

I’m super, thrilled & happy that your day is getting better Raccoon :))

racoonstar

And there was mail in the mailbox! :D

racoonstar

The bag of pool salt is in the back of my car in the garage, and once I've had a late lunch I'll get to spreading it on the walkway and stairs, and think about tackling the driveway.
I just checked, and it's officially 27 F outside, headed down to 15 F overnight.
The high tomorrow is supposed to be 51 F.

That's good at least. You can get a lot done today.

racoonstar

So I'm puttering around the house, thinking about doing laundry, and my ring doorbell chimes telling me someone is at the door.
It was the USPS Postal Carrier leaving a couple of packages, so I now need to check my mailbox.
And I'll do that on the way to Lowe's, since I also received the 'your order is ready to pickup' email for the pool salt. :D

Teagardener

Good Raccoon :)

racoonstar

Hmmm...excellent idea Teagardener. The local Lowe's has pool salt in stock. I placed an order and am waiting for the 'ready for pickup' email. :D

Good on the food and not so good on the ice melt. I hope that it comes in soon.

Teagardener

Hello Raccoon, we use pool salt, it works fine, when we can’t buy ice melt. I used to use kitty litter, but it sure leaves an ugly mess. My last idea is to toss out birdseed on steps and sidewalks, it’s a little traction, it helps.

racoonstar

I've got enough food for about a week, and it's supposed to be above freezing during the day for the next week, so I'll probably make a grocery run on Monday.
I've been trying to find some ice melt to put on the walkway and steps, but no one around here has any. I ordered some from the local Lowes Home Improvement store and their website said it would be here Tuesday, but the confirmation email has a warning in red about higher order volume and delayed delivery, so who knows. :D

Teagardener

Ah, sorry to hear there’s still ice, no trash pick up and no mail. I know the reason for the mail delay . . . local mail trucks are staying put at their post offices because the main postal office in Nashville isn’t delivering to them. Hopefully this issue can be fixed today or tomorrow.

At least you are home. You figured that what happen. or didn't happened, happened.
Do you have enough food.

racoonstar

I've been home for almost an hour.
Nothing in my mailbox, which means they didn't deliver any mail this week.
The driveway and front walk and steps are iced over, so I need to go out and deal with the walkway and steps today.
And while our regular trash pickup is on Monday, my trash can is still at the curb and still full.

That it is. I still had to miss an appointment this morning, My sister didn't want to drive in what we had.

Teagardener

That’s good news Ianto :)

I will, the storm here was not as bad as they clamed that it was going to be. it looks like that you got more than i did. I will.

Teagardener

@Ianto, just now seeing your post from yesterday. You have weather too, goodness. Where I live in TN, 5 or 6 more inches of snow fell, but the good news is the sun came out a few minutes ago !!! To see the blue skies again is a “cheerful mood changer” :) Stay warm & work more puzzles!

Teagardener

Good morning @racoonstar :) How are you? Was wondering if you’ll head back home today?

I just came back from my afternoon walk, the guys here already salted the steps, sidewalks and the street. It might get real bad here.

Teagardener

Welllll, @Raccoonstar, same winter troubles here. My driveway is slopped (upwards), can’t move the car, but roads are fairly good. Oh well, I’ll be out by spring, hope so ;)

That it can. I might have been.

Teagardener

Laughing, when a lack of sleep is combined with too much coffee and bad eyeglasses, yeah, mistakes happen :) I’m struggling with emails today too . . . but I’ll blame that on the weather :)) I’m glad you’re doing alright . .

racoonstar

What can happen? You being mistaken for me?

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha :::gasping for breath:::

That is not a problem. it can happen.

Teagardener

@Ianto, I’m sorry, I’m sure you’re wondering about my odd reply to your comment . . I didn’t see it was from you, I thought it was Raccoon :) Since this virus started, I’ve needed to get new glasses, but don’t want to be that close to my eye doctor in an office visit. So, I’m using my old pair till it’s safer. Sorry again for the mistake :))

Teagardener

Maybe their supplies are running short because of food delivery in the weather and as usual, the virus affects the food industry. Hope your day gets much better! I just now checked the weather . . . wow, could be a few more inches. If you make a snowman in the hotel parking lot, post a photo puzzle, we’d like to see it :))

That is not good on the bags. I get not making the hot food.
The guy that worked there should just hand out the bags.

Teagardener

Now I see that your power is back on at your house, that’s wonderful ! More snow and ice is headed this way, so drive carefully on these roads :)

racoonstar

Got it. Responded. You can delete it.

racoonstar

I finally got to sleep, but then woke up around 6 am and couldn't get back to sleep. So I went down to see what they had for breakfast. They usually have hot biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, a machine that makes fresh pancakes, along with milk, juice, coffee, and hot tea.
Due to the covid issues, they discontinued their hot breakfast. So they had coffee, milk, and juice along with hot water and tea bags.
They also had some 'breakfast bags' that had a small packaged muffin, a bottle of juice, and a granola bar. They stapled the tops of the bags closed after filling them.
There were about 10 bags left when I got there, and more than 1/2 had been torn open and one or two of the items had been removed. I mentioned it to the guy behind the check in counter and he just looked sad. He said it happens every day since they switched to the 'breakfast bags' instead of hot breakfasts.

Teagardener

Good morning @racoonstar, I hope you slept well at the hotel, maybe you’ll have a great breakfast there :) It’s so interesting the Tennessee cities you’ve lived in, I’ve lived in some of them or know them real well. Cookeville I’m familiar with too! A very small world :)) This week, I hope the days pass by quickly and then you can go back home. When the roads are clear, go exploring around Mt. Juliet, but wear your mask of course. If you need anything, I’m just a short text away.

racoonstar

@Teagardener - lots of noise near the hotel, so I'm having trouble getting to sleep. I got up to set the heater fan to 'always on' so it generates some white noise so I can sleep. The portable is still powered up, as I have a couple of devices charging from the USB ports, so I checked in to Jigidi again.
I won't ask where you are, but will mention that I lived for quite a few years in Hermitage, and a few years in Franklin before moving to Cookeville about six years ago. I seem to visit Mt Juliet a couple of times a year for one reason or another, although it's usually a 'passing through' kind of visit to pick something up from a store we don't have in Cookeville.
You'll probably see this tomorrow, so I'll say I hope you slept well.

Teagardener

@racoonstar, I’m smiling, I can’t believe how CLOSE you are in Mt. Juliet :) Because these comments are public, of course I won’t mention my city. Mt. Juliet is nice, a few interesting restaurants and shops. The virus restrictions and the icy roads will keep you from doing a lot of things unfortunately. But if there’s anything I can do to make your visit there better, let me know . . I see the time so I’ll say good night and sleep well.

racoonstar

Oh, and despite the USPS "motto" I haven't received any mail since Saturday.

racoonstar

I live North of Cookeville, and am currently camped out in Mt. Juliet.
There's a Best Buy nearby, so I may head over to check on inexpensive mice after breakfast.

And even though it was Tuesday afternoon when I left, the local trash company still hadn't come by to pickup the trash, which is supposed to be done Monday morning, so I had to leave my can out by the curb.

I am warm and safe and even was able to get some "dinner" after not having any lunch, even though all of the restaurants near the hotel were all closed. Canned tuna and crackers, a single serve cup of fruit, and a bottle of sweet tea. The hotel has breakfast offerings, so I'll have something better in the morning. And coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

At least you are warm and safe.

Teagardener

Goodness, Raccoon . . I’m sorry to hear you’re having to deal with all that. I’m not sure which end of TN you’re at, but I’m in Middle TN, with a lot of ice and a layer of snow on top. Hoping you get your power back soon! Maybe you made a snowman or had a snowball fight :) Our weather will be cold and messy till Sunday, then it looks better. Have a good night and sleep well . .

racoonstar

Well, we got more snow and my driveway has turned into an ice slide.
And then I lost power, which means I also lost heat.
I was able to get a signal on my cell phone, so checked the power company website, and it's bad. A lot of power lines are down due to frozen tree branches falling on them.
And of course they are working hard to fix all of the outages, but warn that even if power is restored it may not stay on for long.
So I'm in a hotel about 60 miles to the west of where I live, and will be here for the next couple of days. Obviously I took my portable computer with me, but didn't grab the external mouse, so solving puzzles is very difficult with the touch pad.
So I won't be solving any puzzles over the next couple of days. I should be back home by Friday.
I hope all your weeks are going better than mine. :D

Teagardener

Christmas Eve we got enough snow to decorate the ground, just for a while. You know how it is, there’s always chances of snow in Tennessee in the next 2 months :) I already have jonquils coming up! Take care and have a good Thursday . .

racoonstar

The snow is all melted, but they're saying we might get more overnight. But since the daytime temperatures are in the 40s and 50s, what little snow we'll get will melt.

Teagardener

G’morning Tennessean :) I enjoyed working your puzzle, I’m still in a Christmas mood. How’s your weather, any snow this week?

bujal

Here it is very cold (about 6 ° C below zero) but it does not snow.

It is still pretty.
