Standing on the events field at Beamish Museum during their "Dig for Victory" event of September 2021 is this ex-US Army 1944-built Dodge WC-54 Ambulance, now UK registered as 201 BSV The 3500cc truck has been affectionately named "Old Rosie" and has the US-Army designation 2053947.
The Dodge WC-54, Ambulance is a 3⁄4-ton, 4x4 vehicle based upon the Dodge 4x4 light trucks of the 1940's. Built from 1942 to 1945, they served as the U.S. Army's main type of ambulance, some remaining in use as late as 1953. Some served in other countries well into the 1960's
