@brianhillcompany Hello Brian, I’m smiling at your comment, but a bit confused what you mean. This photo is about a Pre-Civil War home in Tennessee, so . . . what are you telling me about your puzzles? :) There is a section in the Jigidi Puzzle Categories for music, under Miscellaneous. I noticed you’re new to Jigidi, welcome :) Have a good rest of the day!
@smazik Hello Frans :) The home is built entirely of Limestone, even the interior walls are made from stone (with plaster applied over the inside walls). A fascinating home and what you see in the photo is only the front portion, it has large porches on both sides :) Thank you for your kind comment and for working the puzzle!
Tea, a beautiful building and it seems to partly built in natural stone? Or not. Also read the history of James Winchester via Google about that time, interesting . Frans
Yes I did :) Our tour guide was fascinating and told the group about the legendary military figures and politicians relating to that time period and to the two sites . . Wynnewood and Cragfont. These two estates were connected in a way by the marriage of one of the daughters. The cemetery is on the property, but the truth is we had toured both of these places and we were tired ! So, I’ll go back again to see the garden and to walk thru the cemetery. Middle Tennessee has so many historical homes that date back to the Civil and Revolutionary Wars, so we enjoy take tours when we can :) I imagine you’re a bit of a “history buff”, when you have time one rainy evening, see what you think about Rock Castle and The Hermitage :))
Tea.. Did you know that Cragfont in Castallian Springs TN was the home of Revolutionary War protagonist and Middle Tennessee pioneer General James Winchester. He served as a Brigadier General in the war of1812 and a soldier against indigenous Native Americans To his credit he founded the city of Memphis TN along with Andrew Jackson and Judge John Overton. He died in 1826 and is buried in Cragfont Gallatin cementry.TN. Five pointed stars were mounted on houses and barns as a sign of good luck, like a horseshoe or simply as a decoration.
Hello Jill :) It’s hard to see from the photo, but these are chiseled stones. I can’t remember what kind of stone, I wish I had payed attention better to the tour guide. She said that it was built ‘in view’ of the main traveled road, so the home owner could show off its grandeur :) I’m curious about the small steps to the front door, the two sides have massive, wide porches, interesting! And the metal stars have a historical significance . . but that’s slipped my mind too. I’ll ask next time I go :) Thank you for your nice comment and for working the puzzle!
Yeah for the small events that are Epic Fun Days for our dogs! You’re right about the rain, it means you don’t have to water! I just finished watering, so I’m going to call this a coffee break and enjoy a few puzzles :)
