This squash plant was growing in a ditch along the side of the road, all by itself, out in the country. It even had little squashes on the vine.

I don't like to rain on your parade... but chances are pretty good that it's more gourd than squash. All the gourd/squash/cucumber family hybridize REALLY easily, and the resulting "critter" is usually not quite any one of them. Of course that doesn't mean that they're not pretty :-) But unless you control the fertilization pretty closely, you can have a squashy-looking cucumber, or a pumpkin that has cucumber-like flesh. But it'll still be interesting to see what it produces :-)

A lovely little plant doing what it is supposed to do. Maybe you can have some fresh squash, Laura. Keep an eye on it. Thanks.
