I have strong memories of needing about ten showers before I was convinced all the sand was out of my hair and crevices.

Great story, ljcowles! I'm impressed you made down on the dunes four times! Walking back up is difficult, no doubt. My shoes were full of sand.

Thanks for more Florence memories.

Florence has some of the most amazing sand dunes in the nation, if not the world, in part because they are so accessible to the public.
However, not having the sense the God gave the common oyster, my wife and I agreed to try sand-boarding, after constant plea's from our teenage daughters.

Naturally, the little rascals took to the sport as easily as a pre-schooler seems imbued with all knowledge and skill about computers. I was personally proud of myself to have made it down the dune four times our of six without a wipe-out, but I was amusing to many of the other 'boarders.' Biggest suggestion: a tow-rope would be great to climb back up the dune.
